With North Devon receiving the most from the Atlantic swells, the area can boast several top surfing spots right on the doorstep. From Croyde bay’s powerful low tide breakers, to the sprawling Woolacombe bay and Putsborough beach just a few minutes away. There are some superb golf courses in North Devon. Saunton Golf Club encompasses a pair of the world’s great mature links courses. Also on offer is England’s oldest golf club, Royal North Devon Golf Club, and the lovely Highbullen golf course and country club.

Beaches

We are fortunate to have a number of wonderful beaches in the area. The long, sweeping Putsborough Sands are renowned for their cleanliness and beauty which lead on to the award winning Woolacombe beach.  The world famous Croyde beach, best known for its surfing, along with Saunton beach with its 3 miles of golden sand and dunes.

Walking

The coastal landscape and countryside around North Devon is packed with great walks and places to see. Why not start on the famous South West Coastal Path which runs along the North Devon shoreline.

Local Eateries

There are a number of great places to grab a bite to eat in the vicinity. Make sure you visit local gastropubs The Rock Inn and the King’s Arms in nearby Georgeham. Try Blue Groove in Croyde for a delicious breakfast or an excellent selection of light and evening meals. Cafe Croyde Bay can be found near Baggy Point - a great spot for coffee on route to a lovely walk. The Manor is a choice destination for good food and ale, just a short stroll down the farm lane. In the summer there are a host of pop up food stalls in Croyde, ranging from Stoned pizza to Monty’s Caribbean.

In Braunton, you want to pay a visit to Squires Fish and Chips or Siam Bistro. These are just to name a few, with plenty of other restaurants and bars offering some delicious food and drink.

Activities

If you are a fan of clay pigeon shooting, you will find it here at its best at South West Shooting. The countryside and beaches lend themselves to an enjoyable horseriding experience for both beginners and experts with Woolacombe Riding Stables. For Cyclists, there are the Tarka Trail, The Devon Coast to Coast and West Country Way cycle routes.

Heritage

We fall within the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stunning coastal area which is nationally protected for the beauty of its landscape, so there is lots for you to see nearby. Exmoor National Park is close by and The National Trust nicely details some of the great locations to explore. Prefer country homes? Why not take a look at the stunning Arlington Court and the National Carriage Museum.

Kids

If you’re looking for some other adventure for the kids then Watermouth Castle theme park is well worth a trip. Active Escape at Watermouth Cove also offers paddle boarding and kayaking, great fun for the kids when the sea is calm.
